✅ v1.10/v1.11 update (how to move the stop-loss line evolved; can be adjusted from the settings screen)
・Trailing stop is improved. After profits accumulate, the timing and trail to move the stop-loss line to a “less risky” position became faster and more granular. Enabled from default settings.
・Added an option to select the number of days for orders (Inp_LevelDays).Default remains the same: only the high and low of the previous business day.
・If the stop-loss line update does not go through, the reason is logged in detailin the log.
・【v1.11】 Entry price offset added (Inp_OffsetBuyPips / Inp_OffsetSellPips).You can place orders a specified number of pips away from the break price. Initial value is 0 (same as before).
Under the same conditions, compared with v1.06
The number of trades and lot size are the same. What changed is how the stop-loss line moves.
| Item | v1.06 | v1.10/v1.11 (Default) |
| Trade count | 1,625 trades | 1,625 trades (same) |
| Win rate | 77.35% | 86.46% |
| Profit factor | 3.55 | 5.85 |
| Loss trades ratio | 22.65% (368 trades) | 13.54% (220 trades) |
| Max consecutive losses | 6 | 4 |
| Max drawdown (balance) | 91,229 JPY (3%) | 75,662 JPY (2%) |
| Total net profit (0.50 lot fixed) | 8,731,828 JPY | 9,864,312 JPY |
| Average holding time | About 6 minutes 30 seconds | About 3 minutes 20 seconds |
What changed is the way losses occur.Loss trades dropped by about 40%, losing streaks shortened, and the profit-loss curve became smoother. Total net profit growth about 13%.
Average profit per trade is about 12% smaller(9,672 yen → 8,470 yen). This is because profits are realized earlier as the stop-loss is raised sooner. Looking year by year, 12 of 13 years preferred v1.10 (v1.11 default) over v1.06, but 2025 saw v1.06 outperform.
Note: Testing conditions: real tick data (history quality 99%), 2014-07-01 to 2026-09-30, initial margin 1,000,000 JPY, fixed 0.50 lot. Backtests are historical data verifications and do not guarantee future results.
Note: The effect of trailing is based on the stop-loss update being executed promptly. In tests delaying fills by 1 second with a tester, net profit declined by about 9%, and the profit factor dropped from about 5.8 to about 5.1. In actual operation, results will vary due to broker/VPS environments.
Trailing enhancements are effective from the initial setting. Therefore, trading results differ from v1.06 (order positions, SL/TP, and indicator-related settings are the same as v1.06). In v1.11 you can adjust the start and width of trailing from the settings screen, so you can revert to v1.06 behavior (confirmed to yield same results as v1.06 in backtests). We have informed existing users individually about the updated version.
Targeting the exact moment the daily chart switches
GOLD (XAUUSD) is known to exhibit regularities (anomalies) near boundary times when the daily chart changes. The Guardian of Gold is a simple breakout strategy that moves only when the price crosses the barrier of the previous day’s high/low.
No averaging down or martingale;with default settings, maximum 2 positions at all times (1 buy, 1 sell) in a one-position operationand it quietly but reliably watches the market boundaries without increasing unrealized losses.(Using the number of days for orders option may increase the same-direction positions. See the Basic Specifications below for details)
Over 12 years of validated data
📊 Backtest Result 1: Fixed lot operation (2014-07-01 to 2026-09-30)
v1.10/v1.11 default settings, initial margin 1,000,000 JPY, fixed 0.50 lot, history quality 99%, total trades 1,625
📊 Backtest Result 2: Compound interest operation (2014-07-01 to 2026-09-30)
v1.10/v1.11 default settings, initial margin 300,000 JPY, 2% risk compounding (Inp_Use_MM=true), history quality 99%, total trades 1,625. Compounding increases drawdown more than fixed lot. In late stages, lot size can expand up to 50 lots. In actual operation, broker’s max lot limits may cap the compounding effects.
Both are past backtest results and do not guarantee future performance.
Reasons for choosing
One-position operation
Default setting: always max 2 positions (1 buy, 1 sell). Simple management that limits unrealized loss risk without adding positions.
No averaging down
No martingale or averaging-down. No endless growth in lot size.
Flexible approach to indicators
Around US dollar economic announcements, new orders are skipped. Additionally, you can opt to delete unfilled orders during indicator hours and re-place them after the event. You can also verify effects in backtests by CSV import.
📰 You decide how to work with indicators
Around economic indicators, price movement can become volatile. Some want to avoid, others want to exploit it. Since v1.06, you can choose from three options to match your approach.
| Skip new orders near indicators | For US dollar indicators with importance set to High or Medium, skip new orders for the 30 minutes before and after. Default is High only. |
| Delete unfilled orders during indicator hours | When indicator hours begin, delete unfilled stop orders. (Default: OFF) |
| Re-place orders after indicator ends | Re-place deleted orders after indicator hours end under the same conditions. Buy and sell are judged separately; if price has already crossed the order price, skip for that day. (Default: OFF) |
New feature: CSV import of the indicator calendar. In MT5 Strategy Tester, built-in economic calendars cannot be used. Since v1.06, calendar can be written to CSV and imported, enabling backtests to verify indicator filterswith various setups.
Backtests and analyses using these features are published in the GogoJungle Investment Navigator+ serialized articles. Please read for guidance on choosing settings.

※ Indicator-related options are designed to reduce profits in exchange for reducing uncertainty across indicators. They do not guarantee smaller drawdowns. Please test with smaller lots according to your own strategy.
💡 For those who are concerned about few positions
Since The Guardian of Gold operates with a simple two-position maximum, it may look like fewer trades compared to other averaging-down EAs. A detailed explanation of why this design reduces risk and how limiting trades helps is provided in the Investment Navigator+ articles. Please read before purchasing.
🔧 Option: Choose the Order Target Days
Default (Inp_LevelDays=1) places orders only on the previous business day highs/lows.Setting 2–5 places orders at the highs/lows of multiple recent business days, increasing trading opportunities. You can use the default settings as well.
| Backtest guide | 1 day (default) | 3 days |
| Trade count | 1,625 trades | 3,661 trades (about 2.3x) |
| Total net profit | 9.86 million JPY | 18.72 million JPY (about 1.9x) |
| Profit factor | 5.85 | 4.67 |
| Max drawdown (balance) | 75,662 JPY (2%) | 104,780 JPY (2%) |
Note: 0.50 lot fixed, initial margin 1,000,000 JPY, default settings (filters default), comparison under the same conditions (2014-07 to 2026-09). Increased number of trades raises total net profit, but per-trade quality (profit factor) tends to decline. Also, multiple positions in the same direction may occur, so it is not strictly a one-position operation(up to 4 positions). Please test with a smaller lot according to your strategy.
🔧 Option: Offset of Order Price (v1.11)
From the break price (e.g., previous day's high/low),place orders at a specified number of pips awayThis feature. Buy orders move up; sell orders move down. You can specify (Inp_OffsetBuyPips / Inp_OffsetSellPips). Default is 0, placing orders at conventional positions. When using offset, targets are either “nearest one pip up/down” (default) or “all orders” (Inp_OffsetTarget).
| Backtest guide | Offset none | 4 pips |
| 【1 day】Total net profit | 9.86 million | 9.12 million (about −7.5%) |
| 【1 day】Profit factor | 5.85 | 5.03 |
| 【3 days・nearest up/down only】Total net profit | 18.72 million | 18.07 million (about −3.5%) |
| 【3 days・nearest up/down only】Profit factor | 4.67 | 4.46 |
Offsets do not improve performance.Because fills become less favorable, backtests show decreased net profit and profit factor. This is a tool for those who manually adjust prices daily or want to slightly shift the logic position.
Note: 0.50 lot fixed, initial margin 1,000,000 JPY, default settings, comparison under the same conditions (2014-07 to 2026-09). When offset targets “all orders” (3 days), total net profit falls to 17.18 million and profit factor to 4.09, lower than the nearest-up/down-only approach. Backtests are historical verifications and do not guarantee future performance. Please test with smaller lots.

Just like discretionary trading, there are those that decide trading and settlement timings by combining indicators, those that repeatedly buy or sell at certain price (pips) intervals, and trading methods that utilize market anomalies or temporal features. The variety is as rich as the methods in discretionary trading.
To categorize simply,
・Scalping (Type where trades are completed within a few minutes to a few hours),
・Day Trading (Type where trades are completed within several hours to about a day),
・Swing Trading (Type where trades are conducted over a relatively long period of about 1 day to 1 week)
・Grid/Martingale Trading (Holding multiple positions at equal or unequal intervals and settling all once a profit is made. Those that gradually increase the lot number are called Martingale.)
・Anomaly EA (Mid-price trading, early morning scalping)
However, a substantial advantage of automated trading is its ability to limit and predict risks beforehand.
[Risk]
Inherent to forex trading are the trading risks that undeniably exist in automated trading as well.
・Lot Size Risk
Increasing the lot size forcibly due to a high winning rate can, in rare instances, depending on the EA, lead to substantial Pips loss when a loss occurs. It is crucial to verify the SL Pips and the number of positions held before operating with an appropriate lot.
・Rapid Market Fluctuation Risk
There are instances where market prices fluctuate rapidly due to index announcements or unforeseen news. System trading does not account for such unpredictable market movements, rendering it incapable of making decisions on whether to settle in advance or abstain from trading. As a countermeasure, utilizing tools that halt the EA based on indicator announcements or the VIX (fear index) is also possible.
[Benefits]
・Operates 24 hours a day
If there is an opportunity, system trading will execute trades on your behalf consistently. It proves to be an extremely convenient tool for those unable to allocate time to trading.
・Trades dispassionately without being swayed by emotions
There is an absence of self-serving rule modifications, a common human tendency, such as increasing the lot size after consecutive losses in discretionary trading or, conversely, hastily securing profits with minimal gains.
・Accessible for beginners
To engage in Forex trading, there is no prerequisite to study; anyone using system trading will achieve the same results.
[Disadvantages]
・Cannot increase trading frequency at will
Since system trading operates based on pre-programmed conditions, depending on the type of EA, it might only execute trades a few times a month.
・Suitability may vary with market conditions
Depending on the trading type of the EA, there are periods more suited to trend trading and periods more suited to contrarian trading, making consistent results across all periods unlikely. While the previous year might have yielded good results, this year's performance might not be as promising, necessitating some level of discretion in determining whether it is an opportune time to operate.
・MT4 (MetaTrader 4. An account needs to be opened with a Forex company that offers MT4.)
・EA (A program for automated trading)
・The operating deposit required to run the EA
・A PC that can run 24 hours or a VPS (Virtual Private Server), where a virtual PC is hosted on a cloud server to run MT4.
Additionally, there are both demo and real accounts available. You can experience trading with virtual money by applying for a demo account. After opening a real account, you select the connection server assigned by the Forex broker, enter the password, and log in to the account.
When you deposit money into your account using the method specified by the forex broker, the funds will be reflected in your MT4 account, and you can trade.
Firstly, download the purchased EA file from your My Page on GogoJungle. You will download a zip (compressed) file, so right-click to extract it and retrieve the file named ‘◯◯◯ (EA name)_A19GAw09 (any 8 alphanumeric characters).ex4’ from inside.
Next, launch MT4 and navigate to ‘File’ → ‘Open Data Folder’ → ‘MQL4’ → ‘Experts’ folder, and place the ex4 file inside. Once done, close MT4 and restart it. Then, go to the upper menu ‘Tools’ → ‘Options’, and under ‘Expert Advisors’, ensure ‘Allow automated trading’ and ‘Allow DLL imports’ are checked, then press OK to close.
The necessary currency pair and time frame for the correct operation of the EA are specified on the EA sales page. Refer to this information and open the chart of the correct currency pair time frame (e.g., USDJPY5M for a USD/Yen 5-minute chart).
Within the menu navigator, under ‘Expert Advisors’, you will find the EA file name you placed earlier. Click to select it, then drag & drop it directly onto the chart to load the EA. Alternatively, you can double-click the EA name to load it onto the selected chart.
If ‘Authentication Success’ appears in the upper left of the chart, the authentication has been successful. To operate the EA, you need to keep your PC running 24 hours. Therefore, either disable the automatic sleep function or host MT4 on a VPS and operate the EA.
If you want to use it with an account other than the authenticated one, you need to reset the registered account.
To reset the account, close the MT4 where the Web authentication is registered, then go to My Page on GogoJungle > Use > Digital Contents > the relevant EA > press the ‘Reset’ button for the registration number, and the registered account will be released.
When the account is in a reset state, using the EA with another MT4 account will register a new account.
Also, you can reset the account an unlimited number of times.
→ Items to Check When EA is Not Operating
1 lot = 100,000 currency units
0.1 lot = 10,000 currency units
0.01 lot = 1,000 currency units
For USD/JPY, 1 lot would mean holding 100,000 dollars.
The margin required to hold lots is determined by the leverage set by the Forex broker.
If the leverage is 25 times, the margin required to hold 10,000 currency units of USD/JPY would be:
10000*109 (※ at a rate of 109 yen per dollar) ÷ 25 = 43,600 yen.
・Risk-Return Ratio: Total Profit and Loss during the period ÷ Maximum Drawdown
・Maximum Drawdown: The largest unrealized loss during the operation period
・Maximum Position Number: This is the maximum number of positions that the EA can theoretically hold at the same time
・TP (Take Profit): The set profit-taking Pips (or specified amount, etc.) in the EA's settings
・SL (Stop Loss): The set maximum loss pips (or specified amount, etc.) in the EA's settings
・Trailing Stop: Instead of settling at a specified Pips, once a certain profit is made, the settlement SL is raised at a certain interval (towards the profit), maximizing the profit. It is a method of settlement.
・Risk-Reward Ratio (Payoff Ratio): Average Profit ÷ Average Loss
・Hedging: Holding both buy and sell positions simultaneously (Some FX companies also have types where hedging is not allowed)
