What is an includer?

　Includer (hereafter referred to as "this product") will be an MQL4 to MQL5 converter that I actually personally use when developing EAs (self-proclaimed MT4.5) that run on MT4 and MT5.

　I myself tried various converters, but I could not find a satisfactory converter that actually worked with MT5, and there was no new information about MQL5 converters, so I decided to create my own. I was not sure if I could make it work or not since I did not understand MQL5 at the time, but I am very happy to be able to publish it with confidence.

　I remember that the creation of this project started in the summer of 2020. We would like to take this opportunity to thank several developers for their cooperation on an experimental basis. In fact, we had tried several times to exhibit our products and talked with the person in charge that there would be high demand if EA Toolkuru could be run on MT5. However, at that time, both the web version and the application version of EA Tsukuru were coded in the same way (non-strict method), and there were many parts to be changed for conversion, so I thought it was not suitable for beginners and gave up on the idea. Now that the web version has been updated to use the strict coding method, conversion to MQL5 has become easier even for beginners, and we have decided to release it.

　In the experimental stage, the conversion results varied from developer to developer. The reason for this is that the way MQLs are written varies from developer to developer. Please note that the above does not necessarily mean that any EA or tool can be converted by using this product. First of all, please understand that this product can smoothly convert a simple EA created by GogoJan's EA Tool Web Edition.

　Logic that can be converted with the EA Tool Web version includes technical indicators such as RSI and MA, as well as the nanpin function, the compound interest function, and various restrictions such as account limits. We have confirmed that various restriction functions such as the compound interest function and account restrictions can be converted smoothly. Also, there is a martin function as a logic that could work with a little modification. We will update this page as needed for items that have been confirmed, and it is ideal for those who want to use EAs created with EA Tool Web Edition on MT5.

　As for the method of provision, we will not sell off the product but subscribe to it, since version-up is necessary as MQL5 evolves (in fact, some converters have become completely useless due to version-up) and we will continuously update the information and provide it. We will be continuously updating and providing information. We expect that we will probably receive many questions about usage and responses to error reports. If you do not need the after-sales service, you may cancel your subscription after the first month and purchase the new version each time it is upgraded, but please note that we will not be able to answer questions from non-subscribers.

Major differences from other products

(1) No special software is used.

　Use the "Include" feature in MT4 and 5, and do not go through special applications or sites.

　Simply unzip this product into the MT5 Include folder to complete the installation.

(2) MT4 and MT5 will work with MT4.5 with the same code.

　If compiled with mq4, it will run on MT4, and if compiled with mq5, it will run on MT5.

(3) Can be used as educational material for MQL5

　It is easy to see how to write MQL4 to become MQL5.

1) Simultaneous development of EA for MT4 and MT5 is possible

　Simultaneous development with the same code saves time and makes it easy to fix problems. Exhibits are also treated as separate EAs, making them twice as tasty.

(2) MT5 debugging function available

　In MT4, the main debugging while the strategy tester is running is log output, but MT5 offers more sophisticated debugging, such as the ability to stop the tester at any point where a breakpoint is placed and to batch reference arrays. You will be less likely to be plagued by unexplained errors for hours or days.

(iii) High-speed strategy tester

　MT5's strategy tester is faster than MT4's (1 minute OHCL analysis for a year is completed in seconds), and writing in MT4.5 makes it easier to optimize, etc. It is also possible to get detailed trading results without having to analyze MT4 tester results with external software.

(4) Numerous time legs

　MT5 has many timeframes such as 2-minute and 2-hour timeframes, allowing for detailed timeframe settings.

How to Install

(1) After DLing this product, copy and paste the DLed file "includer.mqh" under the folder "MQL5" -> "include".

*Please place it in the include folder to which the meta editor to be compiled belongs.

Conversion Principles and Methods

(1) We use "conditional compilation" of the MQL language.

　See MQL5 Reference / Language Basics / Preprocessors / Conditional Compilation (#ifdef, #ifndef, #else, #endif) in the Reference for more information.

(2) File Preparation

　Download and open the mq4 file created by EA Tool Web version (or your own EA).

　Create a new EA (mq5) in the MT5 meta editor.

　Copy and paste the code from mq4 into mq5.

(3) Include the following at the beginning of the source code

#ifdef __MQL5__ #include <includer.mqh> #endif

　This means that the includer is used only when compiling with MQL5. Below is a special circuit that uses this principle only when compiled with MQL5.

The following in ④OnInit()

#ifdef __MQL5__ OnInit2(); #endif

　OnInit2() will alert you if the account is a netting account.

　This is because netting accounts do not allow for double or even double-pinning.

(5) The following in OnTick()

#ifdef __MQL5__ OnTick2(); #endif

　MQL4's own predefined variables are created. This greatly affects tester speed. See Coding Notes (2) for details.

(6) Compile and confirm that there are no errors.

　*If you are using icons or other libraries, please migrate them to the MT5 folder.

Coding Notes

Here are some notes and codes that are being checked or cannot be converted.

The event functions init(), start(), and deinit() are not available. Please use OnInit(),OnStart(),OnDeinit() and OnCalculate(),OnTick() instead. For more information,please check the MQL official website.

(2) Inability to use standby order system in general (MQL4's OrdersTotal() is exactly the same as MQL5's OrdersTotal(), so it is impossible to distinguish it from PositionsTotal())

(3) It is recommended that you do not use MQL4's own predefined variables. If you do not use "Close[],Open[],High[],Low[],Bars", you do not need to use OnTick2(). OnTick2() is used in the EA Tsukuru Web version because predefined arrays are used, but by coating these predefined variables with a function and not using OnTick2(), the speed will be faster and closer to the speed of the original MT5.

(4) Enumeration type variables should be coded as enumerations instead of stating them numerically. For example: 1 hour -> PERIOD_H1, Applicable price -> PRICE_CLOSE, etc. In the EA Tsukuru Web version, some input is done numerically, so the following functions convert numeric input to enumerated type. iBarShift,iClose,iOpen,iHigh,iLow

(5) When using ArrayBsearch() in the MQL4 way, do not omit the arguments and fill in all of them, because the search method is different between MQL4 and MQL5.

(6) The part of the old description " Obsolete functions " in MQL4 that has been renamed is not used.

How to offer & display the created EAs to customers

This is about how to provide post-compilation.

(1) The copyright of Includer.mqh belongs to us, and secondary distribution is prohibited.

Please provide only the ex5 file.

(3) For Gogojan and other sites, includer attachment is permitted only when exhibiting on sites that require source code.

No special logo, etc. will be attached even if converted by ④Includer.

We cannot guarantee the operation of the converted files, as there may be errors that occur unexpectedly. Please confirm the operation of converted files by yourself using a tester, etc.
