About EA's Strategy

Cat Punch USDJPY Edition
Usually calm, strike when it matters.
Enter with up to 6 positions the moment you spot prey.
USDJPY M5 multi-logic EA without Nampin Martingale.
By running strategies with different personalities independently, it is designed for long-term stability regardless of market environment.
Defense: Fakeout Strategy Against the ranges formed in the London, Tokyo, and NY sessions, we enter in the opposite direction the moment a false breakout appears. The image is to turn losses by beginners who fall for the fake into our profits. It is monitored on four timeframes: M5 / M15 / M30 / H1.
The basic style is intraday trading, with most positions settled within the same day, but some momentum-strategy trades may span multiple days when capturing strong trends (up to about 20 business days). All positions are structurally protected with a maximum 50 pips SL per position.
Trading Examples
Example 1: Enter all at once and win all (2024-11-06)
A strong momentum occurred, and Strategy E lit up conditions every time the candle closed → consecutive entries. Multiple positions in the same direction were built in the same wave, and all positions were closed by TP (take profit). This is the true nature of the “Cat Punch” “punch when it matters.”
※ The strategy alone has a maximum of 6 positions, and the total across all strategies is also capped at 6 positions. Each position is protected by an independent SL (up to 50 pips).
Example 2: Losing positions covered by another logic (2024-11-04)
Even on the day when a long position was stopped out, the loss was capped at -50 pips per position (global cap). On the same day another logic expanded profits in the short direction, resulting in a positive total for the day. 22 strategies operate independently, providing proof that reverse-direction logic serves as risk diversification.
※ This “loss coverage by reverse-direction logic” is one characteristic of this EA, but it does not occur every time. There are days when the losing logic cannot cover losses and the day ends negative. Final evaluation should be judged by long-term cumulative performance, not daily results.
Accurate backtesting using TDS (TickDataSuite)
From January 2014 to April 202612 years 4 monthsusingTDS (TickDataSuite)in a full test under variable spreads and 100% realistic environment.
5,060 trades; SQN score 7.61 indicates high reproducibility
Backtesting numbers are subject to luck when the number of trades is small, so reproducibility in live trading may be lower. In this 12-year 4-month validation,5,060 tradesprovide a large enough sample.
This meansapproximately 410 trades per year, about 34 trades per month, a level that cannot be reproduced by dozens of coincidences. Statistically, with this many samples, the numbers “PF1.88・Win rate 58.5%・Expected value +4.99 pips/trade” become meaningful as the EA’s performance.
Behavior under TDS variable spread +1.5 pips expansion
Even with a tighter condition where TDS variable spread is increased by +1.5 pips,PF 1.54is maintained. The system has resilience to brokers with wider spreads and different times.
Parameters
Only six parameters are disclosed. Internal thresholds are optimized by backtesting, so changes are generally unnecessary.
- Magic...Magic number. If used with other EAs, use a different number (default 3082000).
- Base_Lot...Lot size can be changed freely. Default 0.1
- Global_Max_Positions...Maximum concurrent positions across all strategies. Default 6.
- Max_SL_Pips...Maximum stop loss pips per position. Default 50. This cap is structurally enforced across all strategies.
- Max_Spread_Pips...Acceptable spread value. We do not enter on ticks exceeding this. Default 2.5.
- Slippage_Pips...Tolerance for slippage. Default 3.
Please read before purchase
Cat Punch can hold up to 6 positions simultaneously when strong trends occur. It may seem like averaging down, but it is not averaging down. No averaging down.
Each position is the result of independent entries by 22 strategies based on their own criteria (timeframe, period, pattern). Each position has its own independent SL (up to 50 pips) and TP, and there is no mechanism to add to losses to recover losses.
When a strong trend appears, the probability of a win increases statistically, and by attacking with multiple positions at this moment, most of the annual profits are earned. However, if the read is wrong, large drawdowns can occur in a short period. The backtest shows a maximum consecutive loss of 16 and a maximum drawdown of 6.00% due to this characteristic.
| Max SL per position | 50 pips (global cap) |
|---|---|
| Concurrent positions limit | 6 positions (across all strategies) |
| Worst-case scenario | 6 positions × 50 pips = 300 pips of concurrent drawdown as a structural cap |
| Prohibited items | No averaging down / Martingale at all (no hedging or counter-trend strategies implemented) |
| Win/Loss streak bias | Up to 25 wins / 16 losses (due to simultaneous detection of multiple logics) |
| Recommended operation | If positions suddenly increase, do not panic; run for at least 3 months |
Frequently Asked Questions
The number of trades feels small; is it statistically enough?
5,060 trades over 12 years 4 months (about 34 per month). This is by design: 22 logics monitor independently and only enter when conditions overlap, so there are not many opportunities. The absolute total of 5,060 is statistically sufficient, and the SQN score is 7.61 (SQN > 2 generally indicates a good system).
Will there be hedging (long and short at the same time)?
There is no intentional hedging strategy (no logic for reverse-position entries for hedging or drawdown relief in the code). However, because this EA uses an independent ensemble of 22 strategies, there is a structural possibility that buy and sell exist simultaneously. Specifically, while a momentum strategy (E) holds a long position, another strategy may independently detect a short condition. Each position is protected by an independent 50 pips cap SL, so risk does not spiral. If you use an account with hedging restrictions from a domestic broker, please consider this.
Is it categorized as scalping, day trading, or swing trading?
Primarily a day-trading style. Of the 21 strategies out of 22, 21 are forcibly settled by time and completed within the same day. SL max 50 pips and TP ranges from about 10–50 pips, so it falls under short-term trading. However, Momentum strategy (E) can hold positions for several days up to about 20 trading days if a strong trend is captured. This is by design to maximize profits when riding a trend, and since each position is protected by an independent max 50 pips SL, even longer holdings do not increase risk.
Is this EA aimed at the USD/JPY “Nikkei fix” anomaly?
No, not exactly. The Nikkei fix (trading around 9:55 Tokyo time for yen selling) is not part of this EA’s strategy. The Tokyo-time logic waits for a fake breakout in the range formed during that time and trades in the opposite direction, not aiming at any hour-specific directional anomaly. Nikkei-based EAs fix entries at fixed times, which lose effectiveness when policy or supply-demand conditions change; this EA depends on the price movement structure within ranges, so it is not affected by the validity of the Nikkei anomaly.
Can it be used on other currency pairs?
This EA is optimized specifically for USDJPY M5. Other currency pairs are not recommended. A version for other currencies (e.g., EURUSD) is planned for later.
Is a VPS necessary?
Recommended. Since multiple logics monitor continuously on M5, a 24-hour operation environment (PC on or VPS) is required.
Do parameters require adjustment?
Generally unnecessary. Default parameters correspond to backtest results. Only adjust the lot size based on account balance.
I started with a loss right after starting operation.
This EA is designed to “attack at the decisive moment,” so it tends to have clustered good periods and bad periods (maximum 16 consecutive losses). Do not stop due to short-term poor performance; please continue for at least 3 months.

Just like discretionary trading, there are those that decide trading and settlement timings by combining indicators, those that repeatedly buy or sell at certain price (pips) intervals, and trading methods that utilize market anomalies or temporal features. The variety is as rich as the methods in discretionary trading.
To categorize simply,
・Scalping (Type where trades are completed within a few minutes to a few hours),
・Day Trading (Type where trades are completed within several hours to about a day),
・Swing Trading (Type where trades are conducted over a relatively long period of about 1 day to 1 week)
・Grid/Martingale Trading (Holding multiple positions at equal or unequal intervals and settling all once a profit is made. Those that gradually increase the lot number are called Martingale.)
・Anomaly EA (Mid-price trading, early morning scalping)
However, a substantial advantage of automated trading is its ability to limit and predict risks beforehand.
[Risk]
Inherent to forex trading are the trading risks that undeniably exist in automated trading as well.
・Lot Size Risk
Increasing the lot size forcibly due to a high winning rate can, in rare instances, depending on the EA, lead to substantial Pips loss when a loss occurs. It is crucial to verify the SL Pips and the number of positions held before operating with an appropriate lot.
・Rapid Market Fluctuation Risk
There are instances where market prices fluctuate rapidly due to index announcements or unforeseen news. System trading does not account for such unpredictable market movements, rendering it incapable of making decisions on whether to settle in advance or abstain from trading. As a countermeasure, utilizing tools that halt the EA based on indicator announcements or the VIX (fear index) is also possible.
[Benefits]
・Operates 24 hours a day
If there is an opportunity, system trading will execute trades on your behalf consistently. It proves to be an extremely convenient tool for those unable to allocate time to trading.
・Trades dispassionately without being swayed by emotions
There is an absence of self-serving rule modifications, a common human tendency, such as increasing the lot size after consecutive losses in discretionary trading or, conversely, hastily securing profits with minimal gains.
・Accessible for beginners
To engage in Forex trading, there is no prerequisite to study; anyone using system trading will achieve the same results.
[Disadvantages]
・Cannot increase trading frequency at will
Since system trading operates based on pre-programmed conditions, depending on the type of EA, it might only execute trades a few times a month.
・Suitability may vary with market conditions
Depending on the trading type of the EA, there are periods more suited to trend trading and periods more suited to contrarian trading, making consistent results across all periods unlikely. While the previous year might have yielded good results, this year's performance might not be as promising, necessitating some level of discretion in determining whether it is an opportune time to operate.
・MT4 (MetaTrader 4. An account needs to be opened with a Forex company that offers MT4.)
・EA (A program for automated trading)
・The operating deposit required to run the EA
・A PC that can run 24 hours or a VPS (Virtual Private Server), where a virtual PC is hosted on a cloud server to run MT4.
Additionally, there are both demo and real accounts available. You can experience trading with virtual money by applying for a demo account. After opening a real account, you select the connection server assigned by the Forex broker, enter the password, and log in to the account.
When you deposit money into your account using the method specified by the forex broker, the funds will be reflected in your MT4 account, and you can trade.
Firstly, download the purchased EA file from your My Page on GogoJungle. You will download a zip (compressed) file, so right-click to extract it and retrieve the file named ‘◯◯◯ (EA name)_A19GAw09 (any 8 alphanumeric characters).ex4’ from inside.
Next, launch MT4 and navigate to ‘File’ → ‘Open Data Folder’ → ‘MQL4’ → ‘Experts’ folder, and place the ex4 file inside. Once done, close MT4 and restart it. Then, go to the upper menu ‘Tools’ → ‘Options’, and under ‘Expert Advisors’, ensure ‘Allow automated trading’ and ‘Allow DLL imports’ are checked, then press OK to close.
The necessary currency pair and time frame for the correct operation of the EA are specified on the EA sales page. Refer to this information and open the chart of the correct currency pair time frame (e.g., USDJPY5M for a USD/Yen 5-minute chart).
Within the menu navigator, under ‘Expert Advisors’, you will find the EA file name you placed earlier. Click to select it, then drag & drop it directly onto the chart to load the EA. Alternatively, you can double-click the EA name to load it onto the selected chart.
If ‘Authentication Success’ appears in the upper left of the chart, the authentication has been successful. To operate the EA, you need to keep your PC running 24 hours. Therefore, either disable the automatic sleep function or host MT4 on a VPS and operate the EA.
If you want to use it with an account other than the authenticated one, you need to reset the registered account.
To reset the account, close the MT4 where the Web authentication is registered, then go to My Page on GogoJungle > Use > Digital Contents > the relevant EA > press the ‘Reset’ button for the registration number, and the registered account will be released.
When the account is in a reset state, using the EA with another MT4 account will register a new account.
Also, you can reset the account an unlimited number of times.
→ Items to Check When EA is Not Operating
1 lot = 100,000 currency units
0.1 lot = 10,000 currency units
0.01 lot = 1,000 currency units
For USD/JPY, 1 lot would mean holding 100,000 dollars.
The margin required to hold lots is determined by the leverage set by the Forex broker.
If the leverage is 25 times, the margin required to hold 10,000 currency units of USD/JPY would be:
10000*109 (※ at a rate of 109 yen per dollar) ÷ 25 = 43,600 yen.
・Risk-Return Ratio: Total Profit and Loss during the period ÷ Maximum Drawdown
・Maximum Drawdown: The largest unrealized loss during the operation period
・Maximum Position Number: This is the maximum number of positions that the EA can theoretically hold at the same time
・TP (Take Profit): The set profit-taking Pips (or specified amount, etc.) in the EA's settings
・SL (Stop Loss): The set maximum loss pips (or specified amount, etc.) in the EA's settings
・Trailing Stop: Instead of settling at a specified Pips, once a certain profit is made, the settlement SL is raised at a certain interval (towards the profit), maximizing the profit. It is a method of settlement.
・Risk-Reward Ratio (Payoff Ratio): Average Profit ÷ Average Loss
・Hedging: Holding both buy and sell positions simultaneously (Some FX companies also have types where hedging is not allowed)
