Closing moments to the positive
The Nikkei Stock Average closes slightly higher.
In the morning, selling was ahead, but the losses were curbed.
As U.S. stock index futures extended their gains in after-hours trading, the index rose as much as 54 yen from the previous close to 28,929 yen.
In the afternoon session, it spent many moments in negative territory, but recovered toward the close.
The Mothers Index narrowed its gains and stayed roughly flat, marking a third consecutive rise.
