Three megabanks all rose to new year-to-date highs
Nikkei 225 stock average rebounded sharply.
Supported by strong gains in U.S. stock markets, opening trades were led by buying from the outset.
At one point, up 570 yen from the previous day to 30,485 yen.
In the afternoon session, selling was dominant, and it briefly touched 30,041 yen, up 127 yen from the morning close, marking today's low.
Thereafter, as the dollar/yen exchange rate settled around 108.90 per dollar, the gains recovered.
All three megabanks reached fresh highs for the year.
TOPIX rose to a fresh year-to-date high.
The Mothers index continued to attract funds into the emerging market, extending its gains for a third day.
