Semiconductor-related stocks are in demand
Nikkei Stock Average declined again.
In the morning, after the previous day's sharp drop (289 points), buying surged, and early in the first half of trade it rose to 29,075 yen (up 215 yen from the previous close).
After dipping again, there were moments when it shifted back into positive territory, but demand did not continue and it softened again.
Driven by selling, the decline widened, briefly falling to 28,611 yen (down 248 yen from the previous close).
In the afternoon, it briefly returned near the previous close in the mid-session, but buying did not persist, and the decline narrowed by the close nevertheless.
Semiconductor-related stocks were selectively traded.
TOPIX (Tokyo Stock Price Index) rebounded for the first time in two days.
The Mothers Index fell for the first time in two days.
