Almost closing near the high price
Nikkei 225 stock average rebounds sharply.
U.S. stocks on the 17th fell, but the decline narrowed into the close,
and investor sentiment improved following higher U.S. stock index futures in after-hours trading (Japan time on the 18th).
In the morning, buying was dominant to start.
It rose to as high as 28,480 yen (up 656 yen from the previous day).
In the afternoon session, buying continued.
Support came from a rise in the Taiwan Weighted Index.
It briefly touched 28,475 yen (up 650 yen from the previous day) on a strong pace.
The Mothers Index also rebounded.
Drifting higher while watching the TOPIX rise, it appeared to close near the high after a round of short covering.
Perhaps the storm has cleared for now.
