Nikkei Stock Average fell back.
The last trading day of the month saw eight consecutive declines.
What could it be...?
Although U.S. equities rose on the 29th, with the Golden Week holiday window approaching and a five-day break starting tomorrow,
there were profit-taking sales, briefly pushing below 28,900 yen.
Later there were moments when the downside narrowed, but buying did not resume and the market softened again.
Ahead of the holidays, selling to close positions spread, and in the late afternoon the index slid to 28,760 yen (down 293 yen from the previous business day).
The Mothers Index also could not move into positive territory, finishing down for the second day in a row.
