Nikkei Stock Average is in holiday mode.
Despite that, it seems there is some trading activity.
In the morning, with an eye on a long holiday, we saw a price decline due to profit-taking selling, briefly dropping to 28,875 yen (down 115 yen from the previous day) after the market opened.
After initial fluctuations, it recovered, and at one point rose to 29,114 yen (up 122 yen).
In the afternoon session, some of the leading stocks continued to stay firm, and at one point climbed to a high of 29,125 yen (up 133 yen from the previous day).
Heading toward the close, the gains narrowed.
The Mothers Index fell. Major stocks were mixed in performance.
