The Nikkei Stock Average continued the soft trading seen on the 14th, with selling dominating in the morning.
Afterwards, a rise in stock index futures triggered a turning point to higher, marking a 96 yen gain from the previous close to 29,717 yen.
The Mothers Index began to fall.
