Closing price and low of the session
Nikkei Stock Average fell back.
In the morning, following the prior week’s US stock market where the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose to a record high and the Nasdaq Composite kept advancing, buying led the way.
Right after the opening, it rose to 29,876 yen (107 yen higher than the previous week’s close).
Thereafter, profit-taking selling tilted the market downward, turning negative briefly, and it HigHened around the previous Friday’s close for a while, but gradually softened.
The Nikkei average closed at a low.
The Mothers index also fell, affected by the overall weakness in the Tokyo market.
