Nikkei Stock Average falls sharply for the fourth day in a row.
Concerns about the economic impact of the spread of new coronavirus variants in major European regions,
as well as the weaker U.S. stock market on the 23rd and the decline in NY crude futures, weighed on selling.
There were moments of pullback, but buying did not continue, and the market softened again.
Right before the morning session, it fell to 28,438 yen (down 556 yen from the previous day).
Concerns over the spread of coronavirus variants in Europe were strong, and tensions between the U.S., Europe and China were also a concern, making it hard to start buying.
The Mothers Index slid steadily, hitting a low near the close.
