The Nikkei stock average fell for the first time in seven days, albeit slightly.
In the early session, selling led.
After the first round, it turned higher, and with stock index futures buying, there were moments when it rose to 29,984 yen (63 yen higher than the previous close).
Ahead of the FOMC on the 17th, risk-off sentiment was strong, pressuring holders to sell to adjust positions.
The TOPIX rose for the seventh consecutive day.
The Mothers Index held firmly, ending near its high.
