TOPIX reached a new high for the year so far

The Nikkei Stock Average rose for the sixth consecutive day.

Starting with gains in shopping-related sectors, it briefly softened but then recovered, briefly returning to the 30,000 level.

In the afternoon session, after a slight advance it narrowed its gains at times, yet the downside was limited,
and overall stayed around the closing level of 29,956 yen in the morning session (up 189 yen from the previous day).

The TOPIX closed at a new high for the second day in a row, continuing its six-day rise.

A fresh intraday high for the year was reached.

The Mothers Index rose for the first time in two days and finished near its high.
