[US Stocks] S&P 500 continued to rise. It temporarily surpassed the all-time high, but there is a smoldering high-price caution.
Hello, Lehman (@Lehman1980)@Lehman1980.
The US stock market has been edging higher over the past two weeks,
and at one point surpassed the all-time high of 3386 points.
(However, it did not close at a new high.)

As mentioned in the previous article, half a month ago,
stock prices rose mainly in large tech names.
This week, with a rotation in sectors apparent,
the large tech and real estate sectors that rose the week before have faltered,
while the lagging industrials and consumer discretionary sectors have risen.
Well, AAPL has become even more popular after announcing a stock split,
and it continues to hit new all-time highs.

The consumer staples, industrials, and materials sectors performed well this week. On the other hand, real estate and utilities declined. (Source: FINVIZ)
SBI Securities account summary. (August 14 close)
Last week and this week, for the first time in a while, there was a return to gains.

Held/Active stocks
Buy: BTI (70) PRU (30) VT (320→330)
Sell: QQQ (10→0) RDSB (60→50)
As high-dividend stocks, two new purchases were made.
BTI (Consumer staples, Tobacco, ADR) dividend yield: 7.86%
British American Tobacco plc is a tobacco manufacturing and sales company headquartered in the UK. It is the JT of Japan, in a sense.
In a prior article I introduced Altria (MO) and held it, but tobacco stock investing is quite challenging.
The price has been dropping since purchase, and it may fall further,
so I bought in two installments around the $33 level, assuming that was the bottom.
PRU (Financials & Insurance) dividend yield: 6.23%
Prudential Financial Inc is one of the top insurers in the United States.
Banks are difficult to invest in for long-term, so as part of sector diversification, I selected from SPYD constituent stocks.
Summary
In these two weeks, my holdings have turned positive, but the S&P 500 also rose near its all-time high.
It may not be long before profit-taking causes a correction.
I will always consider how to respond based on the performance of my holdings.
