Hello everyone, this is Okachan-man. As the video highlighting this week's points, I’ve listed the key points for this week: the policy interest rate announcement and the Davos Conference.
First, the first point is the policy rate announcement. Several policy rates are scheduled to be announced this week. Of these, the ones to watch are the Bank of Japan, which is on the 21st. The second is Canada, on the 22nd, or technically the early hours of the 23rd. The third is the ECB, on the 23rd at 21:45. I’m focusing on these three. However, even though I’m watching them, I think the Bank of Japan will likely pass with little fanfare.
The second is the Davos Conference. I think this is the main focus this week. At this economic forum, many dignitaries and business leaders gather. The conference runs from the 21st to the 24th, and among the topics, I expect there will be confrontations with Mr. Trump in various contexts. For example, regarding climate change, how European countries will address Mr. Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Agreement and Greta Thunberg’s involvement, as well as discussions on digital warfare including IoT and AI, cyberattacks, and how China will be addressed by Mr. Trump are of interest. Between the 21st and 24th, there may be sudden remarks from dignitaries, so I want to stay alert.
There are other important indicators this week as well, and I’ve written about them on the blog, so if you’d like, please check that out.
Well then, let's do our best this week as well. This was Okachan-man.
