Okachan-man's Important Events of This Week in 1 Minute (Week of September 23)
Ancient FX Blog
(Below is the transcript of the video)
Hello everyone, this is Okachan-man. This is a video of “What to watch this week in one minute,” where I list the three points to watch this week. First, geopolitical risk. Second, statements from key figures. Third, the NZ policy rate.
First, geopolical risk: last week’s topic was the Middle East, Iran and Saudi Arabia, and the issue of attacks on Iran’s oil facilities. The second point is US-China relations. This also concerns the US-China trade talks. I thought there was a slight improvement last week, but in the very end there was a bit of backward movement. The third point is Brexit. When negotiations on the withdrawal agreement seem to be progressing, the pound rises; when it stalls, the pound falls. I think this week the pound will be whipped around again by Brexit.
Next, statements from key figures: first, the FOMC has wrapped up, so watch the statements from FOMC members. Also, there is disagreement within the ECB regarding QE-like easing. Because of this, remarks from ECB officials are also noteworthy. Both sides’ members are focusing their speaking engagements from Thursday to Friday. So I want to pay attention on Thursday and Friday.
Lastly, the NZ policy rate: on Wednesday the 25th at 11:00 the policy rate will be announced. A statement will be issued at the same time. There will be a press conference from 12:00, so on Wednesday the 25th I think we should watch the NZD carefully.
This week, I think it will again be a week heavily influenced by Japanese speakers. Schedules, etc., are also written on the blog, so please take a look there if you’d like. Now, let’s do our best this week as well. This was Okachan-man.
