Hello everyone, this is Okachan-man. Welcome to the video “What to Watch This Week in One Minute,” where the focus this week is the U.S.-China trade war.
Last weekend, when China announced retaliatory tariffs, President Trump also announced additional retaliatory tariffs. I think the content of these additional tariffs is quite aggressive. These additional tariffs, and China's tariffs, will take effect on September 1. This weekend, will the tariffs start as is, or will there be some relaxation over the next week? And will the retaliation escalate further during this week? I think this is the key point to watch this week.
There are other risks on the horizon as well, but the impact from China and the United States is so large that everything else is overshadowed. I’ve summarized the other risk factors on the blog as well, so please refer to that if you’d like.
This week, summer vacation is roughly over and liquidity should return, so I plan to trade while carefully managing these risks. Let’s do our best this week as well. This was Okachan-man.
