Downsides of EA sales ①: How to handle defamation, real experiences from a developer
Good morning everyone. This is Renmi.
This time is a venting series (?) The headline is “The Not-So-Good Things about EA Sales,” and I’ll write honestly about it.
Last time I wrote “Recommendation for EA ⑬: Running an EA 24 hours a day on VPS.” If you haven’t read it yet, please start here.

I usually develop and sell EAs, and while continuing to sell, there are inevitably “things I don’t like.” Among them, I want to convey the real side of EA sales, including the especially mentally tough experience of “slander and harassment.”
EA Sales Is a Battle Against User Expectations
Selling an EA means constantly facing users’ “expectations.” The psychology is, “I paid a lot, so it should absolutely be a winning EA.”
In reality, an EA is not万能. No matter how excellent the logic, with changing markets it will experience drawdowns. However, some users immediately judge, “I bought it and it lost! It’s a scam!”
For example, even if the EA has been profitably stable, at some point a slightly deeper drawdown might occur, and some people will focus on that alone. They may calmly judge, “Considering the past results, there’s no problem,” or become emotional, thinking, “It’s a temporary drawdown and I can’t trust it.” That can dramatically change the impression of the EA. In the latter case, it’s hard to get buyers to accept explanations.
A Story About Harassment Being Too Harsh
Among the challenges of continuing to sell EAs, the most mentally draining was being inundated with “harassment” DMs.
I actually posted something like this.
Then, the kinds of harassment included things like the following.
Someone who traded at 100x their recommended lot and died horribly shouts, “This is a scam EA! Give me my money back!”
Someone who had been consistently winning suddenly sees their win rate drop at the moment they bought, and yells, “I was scammed!”
They set GMT incorrectly and suffered big losses, blaming it on the EA
For some reason, they even threaten murder
In particular, when I received a death threat, I felt sick to my stomach and almost threw up.
At that time it was too painful to process on my own, so I posted on X hoping someone would help.
How I Dealt With the Harassment
The feeling I ultimately reached was realizing that “the people who say all kinds of things are only a small minority.”
Online, negative reviews tend to spread, but there are also certainly people who use the EA to make profits behind the scenes. In fact, I often receive messages of gratitude like, “This EA changed my way of thinking about trading,” or “I’ve been earning profit long-term by using it,” and those messages are a great encouragement.
Also, just before the harassment intensified, my EA had once earned 4 yen in a single trade and increased funds by 28%. As a result, many people had overly high expectations. As an EA seller, it’s important to “not hype excessive expectations,” and to consistently convey that even the best EA will have losing periods.
What Is Important in EA Operation Has Been Written About
The topics touched on in this discussion—“expectation management,” “lot sizing,” and the mindset not to be swayed by short-term losses—have been written about in detail in previous articles. If you haven’t read them yet, please do.

Conclusion
EA is not万能, and it’s important to consider long-term expectations
Harassment is unavoidable, but there are people who truly value you
When selling, it’s important not to hype excessive expectations and to clearly communicate risks
For those considering selling EAs, it may be crucial to know these realities and still feel that you want to “create good EAs and have many people use them.”
Well then, until next time!
