"If you are dissatisfied with the world, change yourself. If you hate that, close your ears and eyes, and live in solitude with your mouth shut. If you still hate that..." (Motoko Kusanagi)
In the opening of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Episode 1 of season 1,
the protagonist Motoko Kusanagi, corners the terrorist on the rooftop of a building and points a gun, delivering the line. After “If you don’t want that either…”, comes “Die.”
It’s a very famous line, but it seems there are various interpretations.
- An interpretation that serves as foreshadowing for the later Sarin引用 in the story.
- An interpretation that it is a message directed at Motoko Kusanagi herself.
Well, I’m not good at difficult things, so when I first watched it in anime, I felt a sense of discomfort but not awe or impression. After understanding that she is a public security officer, the discomfort disappeared, and it even felt like a natural line.
If you translate this line into trading, it becomes interesting: “If you’re unhappy with the market, change yourself!” Unless you’re extremely rich or possess insider information, the market won’t go as you wish, so there’s no way but to change yourself.
Price moves and rapid reversals by statements from important figures and getting stopped out happen often. I completely understand the urge to vent, but… there’s no use in complaints. I’d like to adopt the stance, “I will learn from this, thank you,” and organize my feelings. The market is a force beyond human knowledge; truly, you must change yourself.
Ghost in the Shell is interesting, cool, and deep. It’s a anime I like.
From now on, it will continue to provoke thought in various ways.
Now,
Today I think I’ll trade as Whispered by the Ghost (laughs).
See you next time.
