【What is a Swing EA】
This time, we will explain “What is a Swing EA.”
Features of Swing
Swing is a type of trading that targets a “turning point” after a trend has overextended.
In other words, it’s a method that aims for a new trend at the point where the market is likely to reverse after overshooting.
In EA terms as well, it is designed to enter as a “turning signal” when technical conditions are met, and then to ride the trend to maximize profits as much as possible.
What happens when you actually run it?
Swing EA targets the early stages of a new trend, so
・Entry timing is cautious
・When the trend extends, you can aim for large profits
This is a characteristic.
However, if the trend does not reverse and returns to its original direction,
the win rate tends to be around 40%, same as trend-following EAs.
Instead, the magnitude of winning trades is large, following a small loss/large gain logic.
It’s the image of “lower win rate, but you fully recover in one win.”
Swing EA Utilization Points
→ Similar to Trend-Following EAs, but with a major difference in aiming for turning points
→ Can aim to grow assets with a small loss and large profit
→ Because drawdowns can last relatively long, prudent money management is especially important
Ideal Portfolio Combinations
Swing EA,
When combined with Trend-Following EA and Scalping EA, becomes more stable.
Scalping EA ➜ High win rate, steady small profits
Trend-Following EA ➜ Naturally extends profits in the trend direction
Swing EA ➜ Targets turning points in the trend, with large single profits
By combining these three types, your EA operation portfolio becomes stronger and better able to adapt to different market conditions.
