7/25★Sometimes I borrow the power of ChatGPT, Episode 135
FX Auto Trading, the EA developer Reiwa’s double-i-e.
Since last year I have been writing this series aimed at daily posts.
I think I’ve managed to continue for almost a year now!
If you read what I’ve written so far,
I’m confident you’ll come closer to better EA operation.
And now I’d like to take a short break,
but I plan to continue posting with the help of ChatGPT.
Occasionally I will post irregularly, similar to previous posts.
【Beware of EA made only to sell!】 What really is an EA for operation?
FX automated trading, Reiwa’s double-i-e as a developer.
This time I’ll go a bit deeper and discuss
“EA made only for selling”
“EA made to truly operate it yourself”
I’d like to explain the difference between these two.
■ My EA development starts from “operating it myself”
In the first place, I was a discretionary trader in FX.
From there, the thought, “If I could automate this discretionary logic, it would be easier…”,
I started by coding my own trade methods into an EA.
In other words, for me an EA is not
a product to sell, but
a tool to truly win with my own trading.
That’s why,
・ EA that cannot win in real trading is meaningless
・ I have pursued trustworthy logic to put my assets at stake
as an approach to development, and now I have the EA lineup.
■ Portfolioing is also “for oneself”
Also, the reason I develop various types of EAs is not because they seem marketable.
It’s because I need diversification and balance in my own operations.
・Diversification across currency pairs
・Diversification across timeframes
・Diversification across logic styles (trend following, mean reversion, scalping, etc.)
As I’ve pursued such portfolio design for myself, the EA offerings you see now have resulted.
■ Running on real account is “natural”
Of course, I run my own self-made EAs on a real account,
and I also publish the results.
However, I believe this is not enough yet.
Because――
Even if it’s running on a real account,
manual stops before economic indicators,
and if only I can adjust it discretionarily,
it cannot be considered entirely objective data.
■ Another data source: forward testing by the selling company
Nowadays there is an official forward testing (demo account) conducted by the sales platform.
Since developers cannot touch this, it is fair and objective.
However, in many cases it is a demo account, so it does not always match real behavior.
■ Both results having small differences is crucial
Therefore, the most ideal EA is—
-
An EA that the developer himself runs in real trading
-
An EA whose performance matches in the official demo forward test
This “both data exist and have little difference” is a
중요한 판단 기준 for customers to choose a trustworthy EA.
■ Note: Characteristics of EA that are only for selling
Finally, I’ll also share the characteristics of EA made only to sell.
-
The developer does not operate it themselves
-
Backtest period is either very short or not disclosed
-
Only posting screenshots of enormous profits to attract customers
-
Running on multiple demo accounts indiscriminately → only the best results are published
-
Using overseas IB to earn compensation based on customers’ losses
Such EAs often have a structure that causes the buyer to incur losses.
■ Summary
EA is ultimately a tool for customers to use in asset management.
It is essential that the developer truly operates it themselves,
and that the platform’s forward testing shows similar results.
EA that does not meet these two points should not be chosen in the first place. I believe this.
I hope this article helps a little in choosing an EA!
Well then!

【Flow from starting with an EA to intermediate level】
First, mastering how to install the EA is important.

Even at first you may not understand everything at once, and some people will struggle, absolutely.
I also struggled many times at first, so take it slowly and you’ll be fine!

【How to choose EA】
Now that you feel you can operate an EA,
you may think, “I don’t know which EA will win… I don’t want to lose…”.
Therefore, in Reiwa’s Double-I,
to some extent you can determine quality via “backtesting”,
I’ve written the following articles in a series.

backtests support it.
Backtest periods are usually longer than forward testing,
whether you can conclude “the forward wins by chance” depends on mastering backtest evaluation.
【How should FX risk management be done!?】
And even if you obtain a superb EA, if you neglect “risk management,” FX will fail.
So for EAs, how to manage risk?
This article answers that.

And, to sustain EA operation long-term, the “EA operation mindset” is also important.
