A collapse of the AUD/JPY causes the hedged swap strategy to fail…![木里ゆう]
Happy New Year!
From this year, I will have backtesting of methods that seem good to me, and I will progressively trade in real trades those that show a rising trend!
I will report on how my 200 attempts go, and whether the results are good or bad, I plan to start testing the next method anyway.
I look forward to your continued support this year as well!
New coin-toss trading rule using Heikin-Ashi
■ Currency pair and time frame
Display Heikin-Ashi on the daily chart for GBP/JPY
■ Trading rules (updated October 23, 2018)
→ Enter a buy if the daily Heikin-Ashi is bullish, or sell if bearish
→ Take profit at 60 pips, stop loss at 50 pips, set as OCO
→ Do not trade when the daily Heikin-Ashi is a doji, or when the body is very small
■ Notes
・ Do not hold three or more positions at the same time
・ Do not hold multiple positions in the same direction within 50 pips price difference
・ Trades are limited to once per day
■ Others
・ In the article, “○ = profit taken” and “× = stop loss” are indicated.
・ The initial trading rule is explained in, “Starting coin-toss trading that had been of interest for a long time.”
・ For the latest trading rule, please check the most recent article.
・ This trade started with the rule of buying on the coin-toss’s heads and selling on tails, but at some point, I began deciding buys and sells based on the color of the Heikin-Ashi. Still, since it continues from the original idea, I have not changed the name coin-toss.

In this serialized column, I, FX攻略.com editor Shikanai, went to ask about the method results. Shy Yuu Kinoshita appears in animation?! It’s a very simple method, so it’s easy to understand to begin with, and watching it in video makes the clarity of understanding even more evident.

Year-end and New Year period where trading was not possible
From Monday, December 31 to Friday, January 4 there was no trading.
Here is the chart for January 2. The real body was small, so I skipped trading.
January 3 (Thursday) looked like the state above, and I could not possibly enter.
The buying account was forcibly liquidated!
At the start of the new year, Yuu Kinoshita made a big mistake.
In what should have been safe, with a hedged swap and carry, it was very sad.
As you all know, the AUD/JPY also fell sharply on the morning of January 3.
While I was asleep, the buy account Hirose Trading was forcibly liquidated, and after waking up I learned of it. I hurriedly settled all positions in the sell account at DMM FX.
A hedged account incurs no profit or loss if liquidated at the same time. However, from the forced liquidation of Hirose Trading to the complete settlement of DMM FX, about two hours of price movement (the reversal of the AUD/JPY) resulted in a loss. It isn’t fatal, but it was a fairly painful amount for me. The profits I had steadily accumulated were….
The cause was that I had not placed OCO orders, which I had properly maintained as a rule when I started this strategy.
I thought it would be okay if I checked the accounts once a day, so I got complacent.
Every time funds were moved, I had to re-enter the OCO order, and that was tedious.
Moreover, the maintenance margin ratio had to stay above 250%, but when it dropped to around 248%, I tended to defer actions. What started as three lifelines, later felt like only one remained.
So, I increased the daily account checks to twice a day and changed the rules to always place OCO orders. I hope to restart soon.
Although the 340,000 yen profit from last year’s hedged swap and carry has been blown away, I’m glad it wasn’t all lost. I will get back to it and keep trying.
