【BTCJPY】Look back at the 2018 market on the monthly chart
2018 was a tough year for Bitcoin. The opening price in January 2018 was about 1.7 million yen. It briefly touched the 2 million yen range during the month, but at the end of January the Coincheck NEM incident occurred. From there it dropped like a waterfall, and by February it fell below 650,000 yen. After that, while the price kept making lower highs, it held around 650,000 yen, but in November it broke downward. In December the market collapsed enough to briefly reach the 300,000 yen range.
This has left a gloom of pessimism, but how will things turn out? Looking back at 2017, the opening price in January was about 120,000 yen. In terms of the sequence, it moved from about 120,000 yen (January 2017 opening price) → about 2,300,000 yen (December 2017 high) → about 400,000 yen (December 2018 closing price). In other words, comparing January 2017 to the present, Bitcoin’s gains are about 3.3 times.
How this increase in value is perceived depends on investors themselves.
