“Mental state is the most important in FX”— How do you feel when you hear this phrase?
You might imagine a mentality such as “With enough energy, you can win,” but what I will discuss this time is different from that.
Rather, mental state is a crucial element that directly affects trading results.
However, in many cases, it significantly influences outcomes in a negative direction, i.e., “losses.”
Examples of losses caused by mental state
Emotional trading
“I got angry and poured a large amount of capital, ending up losing everything.”
→ If I had stayed calm, the losses would have been minimized.
Excessive desire
“Profit was there, but I greedily wanted more, and it turned into a loss.”
→ If you hadn’t chased profits, you would have remained profitable.
These are all examples of how mental state affects trading.
If you aren’t swayed by emotions or greed, you could have avoided losses or secured profits.
Positive effects when the mental state is well managed
Conversely, what happens if mental management measures are solid?
Make calm judgments to minimize losses and quickly recover.
Lock in profits without chasing and steadily accumulate positives.
If this repeats, a good cycle gradually emerges: “profits stabilize mental state, and a stable mental state further increases profits.”
Why is “mental state” important?
To accumulate stable profits, it is important to create this good cycle. And the starting point is “getting your mental state in order.” By mastering mental state, trading results will dramatically improve.
The phrase “FX is most important by mental state” is based on these reasons.
No matter how excellent knowledge or methods you have, if your mental state collapses, results will not follow. Conversely, if your mental state is stable, you can build a foundation to improve results.
Please consciously face your own mental state at least once. It is the first step to steadily accumulating profits.
