This series has continued daily since last year.

Probably it has been almost a year now!

If you read what I’ve written so far,

I’m confident you’ll come closer to better EA management.

And since I’d like to take a short break,

I’ll continue posting with the help of ChatGPT.

From time to time I will post irregularly as in the past.

FX auto trading, the EA developer—Reiwa’s Double-E.

To run EA smoothly, lightweight MT4 settings are essential.

By properly configuring MT4 and your PC, you can improve running efficiency and avoid communication environment troubles.

This time I will introduce the lightweight MT4 setting method that I actually practice.

MT4 Lightweight Setting Method

1. Reduce “Max Bars in History” and “Max Bars in Chart”

Reducing these numbers lowers memory load.

As a guide, 1000–2000 is usually enough, but for my EA it can operate with 500 bars, allowing further lightweighting.

2. Turn off unnecessary options

By turning off the options below, you can skip unnecessary processing and lighten the load.

“Enable News”

“Sound settings”

“Save deleted charts for display”

3. Hide unnecessary quotes

Hiding quotes for currency pairs you don’t use reduces processing load.

Show only necessary currency pairs and hide the rest (e.g., “USDJPY,” “GBPJPY”).

4. Do not display unnecessary indicators or charts

Displaying unnecessary indicators or charts consumes memory and CPU.

Show only the necessary charts and indicators to improve performance.

5. Minimize MT4

If MT4 is shown in full screen, it may use extra CPU.

Minimizing when not needed can improve performance.

6. Turn off always-on storage sharing on weekdays

Stop storage services like Dropbox on weekdays and back up on weekends.

With it always on, synchronization increases and performance slows.

Lightweight check method

After configuring, check CPU usage, memory usage, and network (Ethernet) usage in Task Manager.

You can verify that lightweighting is properly implemented.

By applying these lightweighting settings, MT4 and EA operating environments become more stable and performance improves.
