3/10★ Sometimes I borrow the power of ChatGPT, Episode 40
FX Automated Trading, EA developerReiwa's Double-E is.
Since last year, I have been writing this series aiming for daily posts.
Proud to say I’ve probably continued for almost a year!
If you read what I have written so far,
I believe you’ll come closer to better EA operation.
And since I want to take a short break,
I will continue posting with the help of ChatGPT.
From time to time, I will post irregularly as I did before.
Balance of Knowledge and Experience in EA Development – Discretionary Trading Experience Is Valuable
Hello, I am Reiwa's Double-E, an FX automated trading and EA developer.
For those with some programming background, entering the world of EA development might indeed be straightforward.
For example, if you are proficient in programming languages like C, building EA algorithms can proceed more smoothly.
However, is knowledge alone enough to create a superb EA? That’s not an easy question in reality.
Knowledge alone is not enough – Experience matters
I always think like this.
If we were to create, for example, a “baseball hit-producing robot,”
a robotics PhD making it versus Ichiro gaining knowledge of robotics to make it,
the latter might produce a better robot.
In other words, not only knowledge but experience is necessary.
A robotics PhD may have the knowledge to build robots, but
Ichiro knows baseball inside out.
That experiential value can yield a more practical and higher-success robot.
The same applies to EA development.
EA development where discretionary trading experience shines
What I always remind myself is
**“Wouldn’t the strongest possible EA be created if a successful discretionary trader gained EA development skills?”**
With experience as a discretionary trader, you intuit market feel and trade timing.
If you then acquire programming skills to develop an EA, you should create a tool that stands apart from knowledge-only engineers—more practical and better.
Experience is required in EA development
In EA development, understanding the market and constructing logic that leverages trading experience is most important.
Rather than focusing on how to write code, I always think, **“How can I create an EA that wins long-term?”**
For that, knowing market flow and trend characteristics—the actual trading experience—is extremely important.
Of course, acquiring programming skills is essential, but
the intuition and feel grounded in experience reflected in the logic is the key to producing truly superior EAs.
Become a developer with both knowledge and experience
Therefore, if you want to succeed in EA development, first accumulate discretionary trading experience.
Then leverage that experience to gradually acquire programming knowledge, making it easier to develop market-winning logic.
I myself continue EA development based on discretionary trading experience, and I believe that experience enables me to build EAs aligned with market moves.
Summary
Programming knowledge certainly helps EA development.
However, the most important factor is logic built on discretionary trading experience.
If you can combine knowledge and experience, you are more likely to create the strongest EA.
Whether you are just starting EA development or are already working on it, please aim for more practical EA development while leveraging your own trading experience.
With that, please continue to have a good trading life!

【How to choose an EA】
Now that you think you can operate an EA well,
you may worry, “I don’t know which EA will win… I don’t want to lose…”
So Reiwa's Double-E provides
“to some extent, you can gauge good/bad through backtesting,”
and has serialized the following articles.

backtesting backs it up.
Backtesting period is usually longer than forward testing, and
whether you happen to win in forward testing can be inferred by mastering backtest evaluation methods.
【How should EA risk management be handled?!】
And no matter how excellent an EA you obtain,
if you neglect risk management, FX will collapse.
