Since last year, I have been writing this series aiming for daily posts.
Probably we have continued for almost a year now!
If you read what I have written so far,
I am confident that you will come closer to better EA operation.
Also, I would like to take a short break,
so I plan to continue posts with the help of ChatGPT.
Occasionally, I will post irregularly as in the past.
1. Differences between forward testing and live operation
First, regarding forward testing,I understand that the forward results of the demo account managed by Gogojan, which is considered the "official operation,"are being referenced. In this case, the conditions for real account operation often differ, so it is best to treat it as a rough guide.
In particular for GBP/JPY,the spread is wide and different brokers may provide different quotes,making trading results prone to differences. Therefore, differences between forward testing and actual trading results are somewhat inevitable.
2. About the impact of slippage
The defaultslippage of 3 points (0.3 pips)has been pointed out as a potential issue. Slippage isgreatly affected by market liquidityandthe broker's fill capability.
As an improvement, please try the following:
Broadening the slippage setting: In market conditions where slippage tends to occur, slightly widening the slippage setting can improve fill rate. However, widening too much leads to more unfavorable fills, so finding a balanced value is important.
Choose a broker with high fill capability: If slippage occurs frequently, trying another broker is also effective.Choose a broker with excellent spreads and execution speed, which may affect results.
3. Differences by broker
FX brokers differ in liquidity providers (LPs) and order execution mechanics,so results can vary even with the same EA. Also, brokers may sometimes implement measures to suppress client profits. In such cases, the issue is not the EA itself, but the broker's environment likely has a large impact.
4. Focus on “Can you win in real forward?”
When developing an EA, it is difficult to minimize differences between forward testing and real trading, but I focus on development for the question, “Can you win in real forward?”
In the past, other EA developers have widened entry conditions to remove forward differences, which worsened results. This is a case where adjusting settings to improve fills compromised the EA's original performance.
Therefore, although slippage and forward test result differences are indeed concerns,it is crucial to focus on how you can operate in a real environment.
5. Improvement measures and responses
For future operations, please try the following:
Change of broker: Trying another broker may improve results. Since LPs and execution speeds vary by broker,choose a broker with favorable conditions.
Adjust slippage: Since current slippage settings may be affecting results, adjust by slightly widening the slippage setting.
Prioritize real trading results: Refer to Gogojan'sREAL TRADE results and check performance on a real account. Real trading environment differs from the demo, so performance in real operation should directly relate to actual profits.
