[Late Player] Will there be more currency interventions? In 2022 there were three interventions
As I was preparing the article, it seems there was a second intervention… a belated article.
In 2022, currency interventions were carried out on September 22, October 21, and October 24. First, on September 22, for the first time in 24 years, yen-buying intervention was conducted. This intervention temporarily pushed the USD/JPY toward yen appreciation, but the fundamental trend toward a weaker yen continued.
Subsequently, on October 21, another intervention took place, and the USD/JPY moved toward yen appreciation, but the yen’s weakness trend advanced again, so a third intervention was carried out on October 24. This consecutive intervention seemed to convey a more assertive message than the second one.
I had uploaded it before, but there are videos for each.

Now then, what about interventions in 2024?
Many of you may have seen it, but the currency intervention on April 29 has already been released as a reenactment replay video.
Bank of Japan intervention!? Reenactment replay video from 2024/04/29
Please compare yesterday’s chart with the 2022 chart.
This is the 15-minute USDJPY chart.
It also looks similar to September 2022, but since there was a second intervention, it might be a reenactment of October.
This is today’s chart (I’ve added to today’s article here)
From the pattern, it seems to mirror the interventions on October 21 and 24, 2022. If the market stabilizes as is, that would be good, but if it then reaches 160 yen again, there may be another intervention.
