EA developers assess the quality of EA by
checking with “backtesting.”
So, as a user
to “discern the quality of an EA,”
you need the skill to evaluate backtests.
With that in mind, this series
will describe “how to find winning EAs from backtests.”
【About the Test Bar Count】
First, what is the test bar count?
It refers to the number of candlesticks used in the backtest.
For example, with a 1-hour timeframe for one day, there are 24 candlesticks,
so the test bar count would be "24."
However, if there are missing data points in tick data, causing gaps,
this test bar count decreases.
Therefore, a higher value is preferable.
Even tick data that is considered highly reliable may have gaps at times.
And for tick data from different vendors,
the gap periods may differ,
and of course the rates can be subtly different.
Among these, in the test bar count category,
more is better, or at least advantageous.
