"I think results will come from now on" A story about a student who felt future potential
Hello, this is Kaoyama.
“You’ll probably start getting results from now on.”
While talking with a student of the Stock Academy
I sometimes feel that way.
For seven years, as the president of the Stock Academy,
I have continued teaching stock trading,
so this sense tends to be fairly accurate.
And just recently, when answering a question I received via email,
I felt, “This person seems likely to grow.”
There was a sense of potential for the future.
At Stock Academy, the questions you ask and the answers to them
are shared with all students, so we record them as audio, and in that audio I also
said,
“This person seems poised to grow.”
What did Iobserve in the question content
that made me feel “they’ll grow”?
What kind of questions do students who achieve resultsask?
Today I’d like to talk about such a theme.
Even though you are seriously learning trading,
and not yet seeing profits,
this is a story that those who are strugglingshould certainly hear.
======================
Many people misunderstand questions
======================
First, I want to express some harsh honesty...
Unfortunately,
there are quite a few people who misinterpret questions.
“That question isn’t quite on point, is it (;´д`)?”
is what I sometimes think.
So what is a question for in the first place?
In a word,
“A question is to probe the essence.”
When you write “probe the essence,” that is a question.
Originally, the purpose of asking is to probe the essence, but
some people don’t probe the essence,
and simply throw out their doubts,which is not ideal.
“To doubt and to question” is what “doubt” means,
and there are times when you are really doubted.
For example, when trading,
it’s inevitable to have drawdown,
and at such times,
people ask,
I understand that feeling.
We are human, so when drawdown increaseswe become anxious.
However,細かい疑問は there is no end to small questions.
In fact, those who are shackled by doubt
will repeatedly raise the same doubts over and over.
The person may not intend it, but it often happens that
“We answered that before, didn’t we?”
is raised frequently.
If this state continues,
it’s hard to achieve stable profits.
You should ask questions that apply to every situation to seek the “essence.”
If you are going to learn investing in some form,
and you ask a teacher a question,please make it a question that probes the essence.
Instead of being drawn to the branches and leaves,
let’s look at the entire tree.
=======================
It may be a little tedious to think for yourself
=======================
This was a somewhat abstract discussion, but from here I’ll share a more concrete topic.
At the start
I mentioned that I read the questions and thought, “This person seems like they’ll grow,”
and I spoke about that, but
why did I feel that way?
In one word,
it was because of the content of the question showing that the person was seriously working on itand thinking for themselves.
That was the reason.
The student was not asking a question on a whim,
but had thought about it and answered themselves first,
and then asked, “Here is what I want to know.”
This is truly important, and
whether you can do this dramatically changes your understanding and growth.
Especially in trading, you think for yourself,
make your own judgments,and move your own positions.
In the end, the only one you can rely on isyourself, so
thinking for yourself is essential.
Well, thinking for yourself is tedious, so
instead of thinking, you may want to seek answers right away
with that mindset, butI don’t mean to say you shouldn’t try; it’s just that
if you ask questions without thinking, your growth slows.
Since you aren’t thinking for yourself, your learning becomes shallow,
and even when you hear the answer, it doesn’t stick well.
“If I forget, I’ll just ask again.”
That feeling arises, andeven when you hear the answer,
it tends to slip from your memory.
That’s why,
after you arrive at your own answer,
you should seek confirmation,
as if checking the answer.
If the answer is correct, you’ll be happy;
if it’s wrong, you’ll be sad, but
that feeling is what helps memory stick.
For example, try recalling memories from your youth.
What comes to mind first?
Aren’t they memories with strong emotions—joy, anger, or sadness?
Likewise, when emotions accompany memory, memory is more likely to stick.
If you are studying trading, always maintain a mindset of thinking for yourself.

Summary
=======================
To summarize, when asking questions, the key points are,
・Seek the essence
・First try to answer yourself
.
I’m not saying “let’s work hard.”
If you approach while thinking, “This is bothersome,” you’ll only end up quitting.
Proceed at your own pace.
Even slowly, if you walk the correct path,
you will surely reach your destination.
I hope today’s content has been conveyed to you.
