Q2-Q4 results said to have an 80% decline. What happened in reality?
Company quarterly earnings for April-June are mostly in. With the coronavirus spreading worldwide and people disappearing from street life, how did companies move and endure through those three months? It seems there hasn’t been a quarterly report that was watched as closely as this one.
As for performance, major companies saw about a 20% year-on-year drop in sales, and ordinary income and net income both fell by more than 50%. Indeed, the figures were harsh, but there were forecasts in the market that the declines might be around 70-80%, so companies managed to hold on and showed resilience, I think.
What matters is how the future will unfold, so this time I focus on the future in my field note.
