How will the latest cryptographic technologies change the world?
Cryptocurrencies generally known include Bitcoin and Ethereum, and many people hold them as assets with price fluctuations.
However, there are aspects attracting attention beyond being financial assets. Since cryptocurrencies themselves are created using cryptographic technology based on blockchain, they have characteristics such as transparent transaction histories, low fees, no administrator, and participants operating the system.
Although the term "virtual" is used, it is not appropriate; the correct term is said to be "cryptography" (in Japan they are commonly called virtual currencies, but overseas they are referred to as cryptocurrencies or crypto assets).
This time, I would like to explain the necessity of these mechanisms in society using decentralized finance (DeFi) as an example.
