Has recovered about 60% of the drop
First, we asked Tajima-san about the current state of the Dow Jones.
“The coronavirus shock caused a sharp decline, with the March low briefly dropping about 38% from February’s high. However, bold and swift economic measures by U.S. authorities and the reopening of economic activity gradually restored values, recovering about six-tenths of the March decline by late May.”
Regarding trading advice, he noted, “Because the number of stocks is narrowed, individual stock daily moves can sway prices easily, and high-priced stocks like Apple tend to influence movement. Still, since these are representative top-quality stocks across industries, overall market trends tend to reflect the general economy. Also, using the NY Dow futures traded outside regular hours as a reference for investment decisions can be a useful tactic.”
