Sharpen Trading Skills with Four Routines!
There are four main things I do when I wake up in the morning. Here, I will introduce each one by one.
① Information gathering
◦ News
I check news online from Bloomberg, Reuters, Nikkei, NHK, etc. I also watch TV news such as “Morning Satellite” at the same time.
◦ SNS
I use Twitter and LINE communities. I review what happened yesterday on Twitter. On Twitter I focus on fine-grained information not usually reported in newspapers, the points market participants are watching, and the direction of currencies. In LINE communities I share information and exchange opinions, so I can hear various perspectives on the same information.
◦ Stock prices
I check the Nikkei Stock Average, Dow Jones, and stock indices from around the world. For bonds I check 10-year yields of major countries, developing nations, and European countries. For commodities I also check gold, oil, copper, iron ore, and the VIX index and the dollar index.
◦ Forex
I check charts comparing currency strength and look for any currency pairs with sharp movements. Morning is a good time to summarize the day since the New York market has closed. If there is a sudden move in forex or bonds, I assume a certain factor and focus information gathering there. I also gather information while checking what the market is paying attention to on SNS and what kind of information people are expecting.
