Ghosn’s Escape Mastermind
Hello, this is Kaoyama.
Today is the first day after the three-day New Year holiday
when more people than usual may be tired.
By the way, at the New Year,
many of you may have set a goal like
but are you keeping it?
During the three-day weekend until yesterday,
I ended up lazing around,
and I couldn’t do what I intended at all,
and already broke my New Year’s resolutions,
and I was wracked with guilt,
many of you who went to work might have felt the same.
But, please don’t worry.
That isn’t just you.
There is data like this.
↓
=====================
In a study of more than 3,000 people in the UK,
88 percent of New Year’s resolutions were broken.

=====================
New Year’s goals are bound to be broken.
Therefore, even if you haven’t kept your goals,
you don’t need to feel guilty,
and you don’t need to worry.
Starting tomorrow another new day begins.
Shift your mood,
while looking toward the future as much as possible
enjoyable things
and please move forward step by step without rushing.

The mastermind behind the Ghosn escape
======================
Well then, since the end of the year
the topic has been “Ghosn’s escape.”
What do you think?
“Regardless of Japan’s rules,
as long as you come to Japan, you should follow the rules.”
“He fled because he didn’t want to be convicted.”
There are criticisms like this,
while at the same time,“In such a situation, I can understand why he’d want to flee.”
There are voices of sympathy like that, and there are various viewpoints.
On the internet there are articles saying
“the prosecutors were in on it too,”“his wife was the mastermind,” etc.
“Ghosn could be acquitted,
and if that happens,
it would be bad not only for the prosecutors but also for the Japanese government and Nissan,
so it would be as ifthe prosecutors’ plan worked,”
and various information is circulating,
and the truth is unknown, but
one thing I can say for sure
is that there is a lot of false information.
==============================
When we want something to be true,
we shine a spotlight on the circumstances that support it.
And we derive conclusions from those spotlighted circumstances
and think we have made a reasonable judgment.

As such,
people only see reality the way they want to see it.
People who dislike Mr. Ghosn
read mostly negative articles,
people who like Mr. Ghosn
are drawn to favorable articles.
It’s very difficult for a person to view informationcompletely flatly.
That’s why baseless rumors
tend to spread openly.
Please, be careful not to be swayed by trivial fake information.
“No, I’m fine. I’m confident I can view information impartially.”
If that’s what you think,
please read the next passage.
And tell me your thoughts.

Unreasonable contracts
====================
Abruptly, do you know the rock band Van Halen?
From the 1970s to the 1980s,
they were incredibly popular,
and even if you’re not into music,
you’ve probably heard of the name.
Van Halen,
due to that popularity there were rumors of extreme mischief and
arrogant behavior.
One famous example about arrogance is
“Put a bowl of M&Ms in the green room
with all the brown ones removed.”
.
Moreover, every single brown chocolate had to be removed,
otherwise it was said you had to removethe entire chocolate bowl.
Remarkably, this was reportedly a contract clause.
Now, after hearing this,
what do you think of Van Halen?
Do you think it is “bold and interesting”?
Most people would probably
think it’s “flashy” or “arrogant.”
However, how about reading the next passage?
Why was such a request
included in the contract?
The reasons are written here.
↓
==========================
“The reason the M&Ms clause was included in the contract
was for a clear purpose.
This article 126 stated:
“Prepare brown-free M&Ms chocolate in the backstage room.
If this is violated, the show will be canceled,
and full compensation will be demanded.”
This clause was hidden right in the middle of numerous technical specifications.
When they arrived at the new venue,
the crew went straight to the backstage and checked the M&Ms bowl.
If even one brown M&M was present,
they demanded a full equipment inspection.
“There will surely be some technical flaw found.
It’s because they didn’t read the contract.”

==========================
The staff
have confirmed that they read the contract properly, so apparently such seemingly unreasonable clauses
were included intentionally.
What do you think? Probably
your image of Van Halen
has suddenlychanged, hasn’t it?
Humans have a hard time viewing things from multiple angles.
If your image of Van Halen has
changed drastically, please remember this.
If you only look at things from one side and you’ll miss out.
Especially if you want to trade and earn money
you need to be even more careful.
If you take a position,
your information will become biased immediately.
For example, at the start of the year, the Nikkei average dropped suddenly,
what did you think when you saw that?
If you had a long position,
you might have thought,“Even with the Middle East issue, …”
and you might not have wanted to accept the drop,
or be swayed by headlines like “a perfect buying opportunity.”
This year, please avoid information bias.
Doing so will change the situation considerably.
Thank you for watching until the end today.
