Technical-focused strategy to survive in the market — Episode 1: Why we dare not rely on fundamentals analysis [Hiroyuki Tamukai]
In this series, professional trader Hiroyuki Tamukai will teach you several sessions of trading techniques focused on technical analysis. For the first installment, before getting to the main topic, he will explain why technical analysis is needed instead of fundamental analysis.
Hiroyuki Tamukai Profile

During the period of running the business, he began investing. Now, after transferring the business, he is a private investor. He also handles seminar planning and organization for FX companies. His books include “FX Introduction Even a Timid Person Can Win” (Ikeda Shoten) and “Safe FX for Working People with Two Chart Checks a Day” (Jiyukokuminsha).
Making Money with Fundamental Analysis is Not Easy
When you start FX, you become interested not only in exchange rates but also in interest rates of various countries and political situations. President Trump’s inauguration kept US politics in the spotlight, and Europe has attracted attention with news like Brexit and the European Central Bank (ECB). However, if you try to trade FX using only fundamentals, it doesn’t go very well. Sometimes it moves as you predict and you profit, but other times it doesn’t move as expected and you incur losses. This is something that every individual investor who starts FX will experience, including me.
However, there is also another way to profit from a completely different perspective. In my book “FX Introduction Even a Timid Person Can Win” (Ikeda Shoten), a young elementary-school trader who cannot speak English and knows nothing about world politics or economics nonetheless profits solely through technical analysis. We adults have social experience and tend to form market opinions by watching world movements through work and news, but earning profits through fundamentals is not easy.
