A top-tier analyst that even EA serious players respect at a glance! Interview with the 4000-character ace analyst EA Azarashi: "There are many high-quality commercial EAs, and I want people to know that."
EA Otter Profile
10 years of FX experience. While I enjoyed consistent wins and losses through iteration, upon realizing that private time could be secured and the quality of EAs was improving year by year, I decided to switch to automated trading (February 2018).

● Interviewer: Michihiko Ebizawa (Editorial Department)
Though relatively new, the research density is high
Ebizawa: From your perspective, how were the 2018 and 2019 markets for EA Otter?
EA Otter (hereinafter, OtterOtter)I had just started operating EAs in February 2018, so I can't say I understood last year’s market as well as more veteran traders. Generally speaking, people say the environment was quite favorable for EAs.GoGoJyanIf you had a lineup of EAs that were selling well, you could feel you’d win quite a bit.
Ebizawa: The same opinion was seen a lot on SNSs like Twitter and other online discussions.
OtterIn contrast, 2019 started with the January flash crash. I stopped running EAs during year-end/new year, so I could avoid the crash. Those who were hit hard would have suffered greatly, and some may have stopped EA trading due to those damages. Also, at the beginning of the year, dollar-yen EA performed poorly, and low volatility was cited as the main reason. However, in the first half of 2019, although dollar-yen EAs were underperforming, other cross-yen pairs and EURUSD EAs were in a pretty favorable market and earning well.
Ebizawa: Outside of USDJPY, did others perform well?
OtterYes. However, in July and August the market changed, and even the well-performing EAs were hit hard, leading me to think 2019 was a tough year overall for EAs.
Ebizawa: How did you perform in 2019, EA Otter?
OtterI run my own EA as well, but putting that aside, when considering only commercially available EAs, the first half of the year saw the yen pairs underperforming, while euro-dollar pairs performed well, showing a positive trend though not as strong as last year. After falling in July and August, from September onward the market again became favorable for technicals, and things were excellent. By the way, in March I published a blog post titled “If you were to pick and assemble a portfolio, this is it!” Those who followed that guidance likely achieved good results.
Ebizawa: I’ll be sure to refer to that article.
