When walking around town, you often see McDonald's and Starbucks. When walking through busy entertainment districts like Manhattan in New York, you can find another store within less than three minutes. It's nice that businesses prosper. When I was in Japan, I heard that McDonald’s is shortened to "Mac" in the Kansai region and "Mac" in the Kanto region. It seemed similar to the debate about standing on the right side on escalators in Kansai and the left side in Kanto. By the way, in Washington DC, New York, and Chicago, when you ride an escalator you stand on the right and walk on the left to pass.
