Q21. I’m not good at fundamental analysis, and I don’t know how to utilize the news distributed by FX companies. Is it difficult to win using only technical analysis? (Nagano Prefecture / 30s / Male)
A. There are many traders who succeed with technical analysis alone. However, basing decisions on fundamentals to discern future scenarios and facing the market is fundamental to forex. Ideally, you should be proficient in both technical and fundamental analysis.
Fundamental factors can move the market too
In today’s FX world where short-term trading like scalping and day trading dominates, many individual investors build their positions based on technical analysis. There’s certainly nothing wrong with that, but sometimes the market moves in ways that cannot be explained by technicals alone, and there are always fundamental factors behind those moves.
That said, fundamental analysis covers a broad scope, and many traders say they don’t know what to look at. This time, as an introduction to fundamentals, we focus on two points: “economic indicators” and “market themes.”
