In eight years, I revisited the Portrait of Gennevre de Bencht by Leonardo da Vinci housed in the National Gallery at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC (Image ①). While viewing, I suddenly recalled the adventure film The Da Vinci Code, in which Mary Magdalene supposedly married Jesus Christ and bore his child, with Da Vinci embedding coded messages (codes) in his works. People living in Da Vinci’s era could never imagine the advancement of modern code technology.
