settling into scalping after a journey of finding methods
When traders meet, one of the topics that almost invariably comes up is their trading style and the timeframes they monitor. This time I will talk about the timeframes I mainly watch.
I mainly do USDJPY scalping. I arrived at my current scalping approach after several years of what many traders experience—an “ever-searching for a method” journey. At one point I even focused on swing trading.
After I entered a trade, I would place a take-profit limit order and a stop-loss reverse order, so it would close automatically regardless of what happened, but I could not help but be curious about the final result. Even though both the profit and loss were bounded unless a major catastrophe occurred, I wanted to know whether the result would end in a profit or a loss. I would monitor the rate around the clock, checking the trading app on my smartphone in my spare moments, and it became difficult to sleep at night.
