A Convenient Method to Consolidate Backtest Settings
Hello everyone. In the last four installments, we have looked at how to conduct backtesting and how to evaluate the results. For backtesting, it is assumed that the parameter settings are fixed, but it’s difficult to search for the best trading results by changing parameters one by one, isn’t it?
That’s where the optimization feature built into MT4’s Strategy Tester shines. By using this feature and specifying “the parameter items whose settings you want to change,” “the range of settings,” and “the step size for changes,” you can run backtests for all combinations at once and display the results. Now, let’s first look at how to configure optimization.
