Carefully Identify Favorable Market Conditions for EAs
Although the developed EA and indicators are popular products for the Foreign Warrior, their own professional trading as a full-time trader is mainly driven by EA-derived profits.
"I run my self-developed ‘Foreign Victory’ along with other self-made EAs. The main logic is to buy on dips and sell on retracements where a trend has already emerged, and I think the key is to pause operations due to fundamental factors."
The primary fundamental factor that makes him stop his EA is the U.S. jobs report.
"I stop the EA for about three hours before and after the jobs report. This is my own conclusion derived from testing and backtesting."
EAs have strengths and weaknesses in different market conditions, and knowing that and toggling operation on/off can improve profitability. Even if you are not using your own developed EA, you can understand its characteristics by watching its behavior, which is key to effective operation.
So, what prompted this Foreign Warrior to become a full-time trader?
"Two years ago, I left an IT company and started a business selling used designer bags in Poland. After that, I delegated the main part of this business to a acquaintance, and began living off FX alone in the spring of 2019."
From a period slightly before becoming a full-time FX trader, he had been making profits from developing and selling indicators and EAs. He had started FX about six years ago.
"When I was working in IT, I wanted to quit my job and researched indicators and EAs. At that time, I didn’t have the idea of selling what I created, and I didn’t even know there were services to sell indicators and EAs. My aim was simply to create things that would help me win in my own trading."
The foundational basis for the EAs he is currently developing took about a year to build. He would obtain free EAs and repeatedly examine their contents.
