This time, I will answer commonly asked questions about cryptocurrencies. I hope this will be helpful for future cryptocurrency trading.
Consider not only speculation but also asset value
Question 1: Will cryptocurrency prices rise in the future?
Answer: I personally think capital will flow into the cryptocurrency market and trading will increase in the future. Looking at the current economic trend, borderless assets like Bitcoin will play a significant role as safe assets. In Japan, the term for cryptocurrency has been decided to be changed to “crypto assets.” Crypto assets have a public transaction history worldwide and can be traded directly between individuals and owned as personal assets.
In countries currently experiencing financial crises like Venezuela and Argentina, Bitcoin trading has surged. This means confidence in government-issued fiat currencies has diminished. When the value of a currency falls, vegetables that could be bought for 100 yen may become 10,000 yen or 100,000 yen. The crisis-avoidance measure in such times is to possess assets that do not drop in price and are more trusted. The yen relies on the trust of the Japanese government, but what about the future?
There are frequent voices of future uncertainty, but we need to think carefully about why we feel that way. Even if the salaries for one generation are the same, the value of goods may rise, and the retirement age and pension reductions or severance pay reductions may realistically occur. In this context, we must thoughtfully decide what we should do. Cryptocurrencies have speculative aspects, but fundamentally I view them as “owning something of value.”
A famous investor, Shinsei Murakami Yo (former Murakami Fund representative), stated about cryptocurrencies: “I’m not sure if cryptocurrencies will really become ingrained in our daily lives, but just as money changed from rocks to shells to coins, various forms of money will appear in the future. However, regardless of the form, the essence that money is a tool for living does not change.” It’s a thought-provoking remark.
