A Talent Blooming While Spending Everyday Engulfed in Charts
Ebizawa: Mawarana Sushi-san is only 23 years old in his first year as a working adult, yet his FX skills are considerable, and he is gaining popularity as an up-and-coming young trader. Today, we want to focus on what kind of person Sushi is and hear from him. First, please tell us what motivated you to start FX and the path of your growth.
Mawarana Sushi (hereafter, Sushi)Last year, when I was job-hunting, I had to be hospitalized due to an unknown illness. At that time, I considered the possibility that I might have to quit my job due to illness, so I decided to learn how to earn money on my own. As a means to earn money, I thought about obtaining national qualifications or starting in investments. I actually obtained the Administrative Scrivener and Customs Broker qualifications, but at the same time I found FX, which many people were doing, to be interesting and started it.
Ebizawa: When it comes to investments, stocks are popular, but why did you choose FX?
SushiStocks require a certain amount of capital, right? Back then I didn’t even have 50,000 yen, so I chose FX because it allows entry with a small amount and has leverage. However, I initially blew through 50,000 yen very quickly. After that, I studied like crazy, and that study began to pay off and I started increasing money. Since I was a fourth-year university student, I had a lot of time, so I continued a lifestyle of watching charts for about 21 hours a day, determined to memorize all the chart patterns.
Back then I focused on displaying technical indicators that everyone says they use, such as moving averages, Bollinger Bands, and the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo, and I concentrated on memorizing the shapes. Also, when I investigated why the market moves, I realized it’s influenced by human psychology. Once I knew that, I started thinking about things like, “In this situation, because someone is thinking this, it will move like this,” and I worked with that imagination. Before long, the charts began moving as I had envisioned.
Ebizawa: For almost an entire day you’re immersed in charts. Many billion-yen traders have stories about sacrificing sleep to study charts. Sushi, you crawled up from such hard training as well, didn’t you?

Ebizawa: What kind of trades are you making now?
SushiRight now I mainly trade discretionary with MT4 indicators used as support. Since around January this year, I’ve been experimenting with various indicators publicly available online, exploring what kinds of code are behind them and trying combinations that might work well, and eventually I developed my own original indicator.
Ebizawa: What kind of indicator is it?
