From July 29 (Wed) to August 9 (Sun), operations will be limited to Shōkinryū. Gold맥AI, Enmusubi AI, Sōgetsu, and EA Verification Lab will be on break for both distribution and operation during this period.
The biggest news is the coordinated FX intervention by Japan and the United States. The Japanese Ministry of Finance confirmed last weekend that it conducted yen buying intervention jointly with the U.S. This is the first such coordinated intervention since 2011. The yen, which had been around the lowest level in about 40 years (near 164), has rebounded to the 157 range. The Ministry signaled it is prepared for further coordinated interventions, so expectations of intervention are likely to continue for the time being. Today also saw the release of the U.S. ISM Manufacturing PMI (July), making overall dollar movements more volatile.
