?MT5 Large-scale Update Part 3: The AI assistant messed up! A ridiculous blunder that made me laugh
“If you leave it to AI, you’ll be safe.” Is that really true??
Regarding the AI assistant standardly built into MT5,
In Part 1,we introduced the amazing features of the AI assistant built into MT5.
In Part 2,we explained the “strengths” and “weaknesses” of actually using it.
And now this time, the most important theme.
How much should we trust AI?
AI tends to attract attention for convenience, but as you use it more, you will notice not only its capabilities but also its “limits.” AI can make mistakes. And the way it makes mistakes has characteristics slightly different from humans.
To be with AI for a long time, you need to know not only what it can do but also “what you should not entrust to it.”

?AI is not a substitute for humans
Recently, many people have the impression that “AI can do everything.”
Indeed, MT5’s AI can
- analyze charts
- check positions
- explain the market
- change settings
and perform many tasks.
But that does not mean it is always correct.
AI is very capable, but not万能 (not omnipotent).

?A real AI failure
I asked AI the following.
“Please set it to display the stop line’s red line.”
A very simple request.
AI began changing settings, and the order line display itself succeeded.
However, perhaps due to templates being manipulated in the meantime, all indicators displayed on the chart disappeared.
For a long time AI continued to attempt,
“Restoring.”
“Trying a different method.”
“Checking again.”
and kept trial and error.
But in the end, the response was
“We apologize for initializing the chart settings.”
This was the answer.
As a result, the settings did not revert.

?AI tends to try to fix things when it fails
What impressed me most this time was here.
AI does not end with “I failed.”
To solve the problem, it tries again and again with different methods.
This attitude itself is wonderful.
However, in some cases, the actions to repair can create new problems.
Also, it may endlessly attempt even difficult requests.
Humans tend to pause and think, “This looks dangerous, so I should confirm.” AI, on the other hand, tends to prioritize fulfilling the request.
Therefore, when using an AI assistant,
- long-running processes
- operations that cannot be undone
- cases where multiple methods must be tried
it is important to state first that you must confirm before continuing.

?If you’re trading live, you can’t just laugh this off
This failure was chart settings. At worst, you can redo the settings.
But what if this had been actual trading?
For example,
- mis-enter a lot size by one digit
- place a Buy and Sell in reverse
- set a wrong stop-loss price
- close the wrong position
Such mistakes cannot be resolved with “sorry.”A loss once occurred cannot be recovered.
That is why when entrusting orders to AI, human final confirmation is crucial.

?AI has no malice. But its prioritization is different
What I felt while using it this time is that AI was genuinely serious.
It keeps thinking hard to realize the user’s request.
The problem is that the meaning of “fulfilling the request” and the “impact of failure” are not always weighted the same.
Through various experiments, I also experienced operations like
- deleting configuration files
- overwriting files
- rewriting templates
and so on.
Humans would be cautious, thinking, “This operation might be irreversible.”
But AI, prioritizing task completion, may cross that line.
That’s why it’s important to understand that AI isn’t malicious; its decision criteria differ from humans and should be used accordingly.

?AI assistants changing the FX world
That said, MT5’s AI assistant holds enormous potential.
AI can
- analyze charts
- read account information
- check holdings
- understand indicator contents
In other words, even previously opaque FX tools will become easy to verify with AI.
For example,
“Can you verify whether this signal tool really wins?”
With just this instruction, the future where you can analyze trading rules and signal tendencies is already on the horizon.
It will shift from a knowledge-dominated era to one where anyone can verify using AI.

?The shape of AI trading going forward
Current AI-driven proxy operations still have risky aspects.
However, going forward,
- warn about risk in advance
- seek confirmation before actions
- auto-create restore points
- stop dangerous operations
and safety features will be enhanced.
Soon, it may become natural to consult AI and place orders, rather than pressing the trade button yourself.
Of course, achieving this will take time.

?Not trusting AI, but mastering its use
The true value of AI is not in replacing humans.
“What AI can do” and “what you can entrust to AI” are not the same.
Understanding this line is essential for traders in the AI era.
Don’t overtrust because it’s convenient. Use AI as an excellent assistant, and make the final decision yourself. This accumulation leads to maximizing AI’s power while avoiding unnecessary risk.
In investing, convenience and safety are not the same thing.
While embracing new technology, the attitude of taking responsibility for your own judgment in the end may be the best weapon to survive long in the market.
