?MT5 large-scale update ① AI assistant standard equipped, a new generation of trading begins!
In July 2026, MetaTrader 5 (MT5) finally gained an AI assistant.
It’s not merely a story like, “MT5 now has AI,”but a major turning point where the trading environment itself will change.
This isn’t just a basic AI chat screen embedded in MT5.

This AI can understand position status, account information, and chart data to provide advice, and it can also place orders and set stop lines to control MT5.
It also understands the indicators and signal tools displayed, so vague tools will be stripped bare, enabling even those who don’t know programming to easily identify issues.
This is not just a chatbot. It’s not an exaggeration to say we’ve entered an era where MetaTrader itself can converse with AI, and it’s free.
This time, I’ll introduce the first impression and the features that surprised me when I actually tried them.

The AI assistant looks at the chart
Unlike traditional generative AI, it doesn’t need a human to explain things in text first.
For example,
“USD/JPY daily is in an uptrend….”
“RSI is above 70…”
where humans describe the situation before AI can answer.
However, MT5’s AI assistant is different.
It can access the currently open charts and account information,
- Current positions
- Symbol
- Entry price
- Floating P/L
- Margin maintenance rate
- Chart information
and converse based on that context.
In other words,
when asked, “What do you think about BTCUSD right now?”
it can answer by looking at the current positions.
This is a major difference from traditional generative AI.

Recognizes indicators and signal tools
What surprised me further is here.
The AI assistant even recognizes indicators displayed on the chart.
In my environment, I was showing a custom indicator “ArwByIdx_rcm,” but
- Indicator name
- Parameters
- Current settings
and understood them.
Then it suggested, “Shall we backtest using data from the past three months?”
Just hearing this could freeze developers with astonishment.
AI can objectively analyze the logic and behavior of signal tools and even evaluate their performance.Even people who can’t write code can just ask AI to reveal issues with signals.
At this point, you could say you’ve gained an advisor for tool selection.

Can even change chart settings
Additionally, the AI can modify chart settings and templates.
In other words,
“Display the order line”
“Add ○○”
are also possible requests.
Of course, if you ask, “Where should I place a stop?” you might hear, “There’s a double bottom around ○○, so a stop around that lower level ○○ would be suitable.”
“Then place a stop order there.”If you give that instruction, the AI assistant sends orders to MT5 and can actually modify the order details.
At this stage, it’s no longer just Q&A, but aAI that operates MetaTraderso it’s closer to the truth.
Many people are now generating a single display with a multitouch or multi-monitor setup as AI, but MT5 seems to integrate that with order processing as well.

Honestly, I didn’t expect it to reach this level
I’ve only just begun to use it, but I’ve tested a variety of features.
Initially, I thought it was only “AI chat has appeared,” but in reality it has deeply penetrated inside MetaTrader beyond expectations.
- Look at charts.
- Look at positions.
- Recognize indicators.
- Analyze source code.
- Write MQL.
- Change settings.
If it can do this much, MT5's usage in the future will surely change.
However, in actual use, it isn’t万能 (omnipotent).
There are things it doesn’t excel at as much as I hoped, and there are features that surprise me with what it can do. There were even moments where I wondered, “Can it really do that?” due to some clumsy moments.
Next time, I’ll introduce, from a real user perspective, the features that were truly convenient and those that were still challenging—based on actual experience, not just expectations.
