Why I chose not to hold positions at night
The EA’s I have developed, Shoukinryuu and Enmusubi AI, are grid-type AEs that wait for recovery while carrying drawdowns. They can accumulate profits efficiently, but if the market moves in one direction for a long time, drawdowns can swell accordingly. The Golden Rule is designed as the opposite. It targets the morning rise and the rebound after a day’s sharp drop in gold from both buying and selling sides, and always closes before the day ends.
By not crossing into the night, it becomes free from overnight gaps, weekend gaps, and negative swaps. I take the editors’ comment that “quiet yet reassuring” to heart, as that precisely describes this feature.
Golden Rule Framework
Maximum 1 unit each for long and short
Buy and sell up to 1 unit each. A simple position-taking approach with no heavy averaging down.
Two-tier framework of Time + Stop Loss
Always exit at the predetermined time, plus a standard stop loss calibrated to the day’s volatility (ATR).
Worst Drawdown ~3% over about 7.5 years of testing
Backtest from 2019 for about 7.5 years shows maximum drawdown remains within 3% of balance.
To Those Considering Running It
This introduction provides helpful support, but the validation shown is still past backtests and does not guarantee future performance. Golden Rule operates with a win rate below 50% and a “small losses, big profits” design; there may be days when no trades are made if conditions aren’t right.
